0. General instructions
Language of the reports is English.
The labs are done in groups of two persons.
The course should be finished within the fourth (IV/2009) study period.
When you write reports you are not supposed to copy the text directly eg. from the background material or other sources, but rather write it in your own words. It is also encouraged to use more than one source. In case of fraud the following rules will be applied. The total grade of each lab work is composed as follows:

The works are empasised so that all other works have emphasis 1, except 27-IPv4 Routing and 34-BGP which are emphasized with 2.

Wireshark is a very good tool which you will be using in the lab. Wireshark is a network packet analyzer which will try to capture network packets and tries to display that packet data. Instructions how to use it are at the bottom of this file.

1. Preliminary report for every assignment (1/group)
One report/group.
The title page of the preliminary reports should follow the model (see at the bottom of this article). It means that the title page should be identical with the model, TKK logo and the text in the same place, the font is Arial etc.
The preliminary report should be returned through the reservation system (in pdf -form) at least three days before the laboratory time.
As you write your report, you must always include the reference where you got the material. For references on the web write the date when you read it.
You should prepare yourself well for each laboratory work. Read the work instructions and do the preparation tasks if there are any (in addition to the preliminary report). That will save you time, which is limited.
If you exceed the reserved time, the grade will be lower.
Use @cc.hut.fi or @tkk.fi or @hut.fi email address in your reports.

2. Laboratory assignments in the laboratory
Both students must be present all the time.
During the assignment students are recommended to make notes.
The lab works give study points as follows:

One of the lab works must be 27-IPv4 Routing.

3. Report afterwards
One report/group
The title page of the preliminary reports should follow the model (see at the bottom of this article).
The report of the work 27 IPv4 Routing should follow the given report model (see at the bottom of this article).
The reports of every assignment should be returned through the reservation system (in pdf -form) no later than two weeks after the assignment.
If you return the report in time but it is not accepted you need to correct it and return it within one week.
If your report is still not accepted it is considered failed. In that case you are not allowed to do it again but you need to choose another work.
Every assignment is independent from the other assignments and will be graded separately.

4. Personal report about learning during the course
Personal
The personal report has to be returned no later than two weeks after you have done all the lab works (together with your last report).
Your grade will be sent to the registration office only after having received your personal report.
The personal report is returned via e-mail to Mika Tarvainen who is the responsible teacher of the course.
For more details look the concerning instructions at the bottom of these instructions.

5. Course adjustment
Voluntary but recommended

At the end of the course you can also fill an electronic evaluation form for the faculty.
