Applied Stochastic Processes

Topic: In Spring 2004, course S-38.215 is mathematically oriented and will deal with Applied Stochastic Processes with the applications in queueing and teletraffic theory in mind. The course is based on the book:

General information: The course is organized and lectured by Samuli Aalto (samuli.aalto@hut.fi, p. 451 2483). It consists of lectures (21 h), exercise classes (9 h) with homework assignments, and an examination. The course is worth 2 credits. It is an optional course, which can be included in post graduate studies. The working language is English.

Prerequisites: Mat-2.111 (Stochastic Processes), S-38.143 (Queueing Theory) and S-38.141 (Teletraffic Theory), or corresponding knowledge.

Entry: Obligatory enrolling is through WWW-TOPI.

Lectures (2 hours/week): Lectures will be held on Mondays between 16-18 in room D302. The first lecture will be held on Monday 2.2.2004. Altogether there will be 10 lectures. Handouts of the lectures are (hopefully) available from the web page Lectures.

Exercises (1 hour/week): Exercise classes will be held on Mondays between 15-16 in room D302. The first exercise class will be held on Monday 9.2.2004. Altogether there will be 9 exercise classes.
